The recording of Antonín Dvořák's String Sextet Op. 48 was made using ten modern microphones from the TACET collection of electron microphones, not one historical one, as is usually the case. However, these new microphones have much in common with the "old" ones, as a look into the history of the manufacturer shows... In fact, the sound of the Microtech UM 92.1 S microphone is somewhat similar to that of Andreas Spreer's favourite microphone, the historic Neumann M49 from the Berlin-based Neumann company. It transmits a warm, silky yet always clear sound. However, it is not only the microphones that contribute to the enjoyment of this recording, but (again) above all the musicians. The Auryn Quartet, reinforced by Christian Altenburger (viola) and Patrick Demenga (cello), handles all the subtleties of the score of this masterpiece with gusto, giving us a real feast for the ears full of harmony and melody.
