With a muffled scream into the technological darkness, Contemporary Movement burst into the world just as MP3s appeared in the first student dorms. A thirty-nine minute trip into the void, awash in Cold War-era reverb and then dipped into four static tracks for good measure. Duster constructed a brutalist masterpiece on the edge of a shopping mall, as if to say, "We were here."

"Stratosphere," Duster's 1998 debut album, is best listened to while still in the womb, simultaneously ending and reinventing the first wave of slow core. A four-track dreamscape that wakes the neighbors and then lulls them back to sleep. Hazy, arpeggiated guitars layer over deliberate drums that have no real place, while semi-loud vocals warn of millennial malaise and subtly urge the listener to "rock out, rock out, rock out".
This foil-stamped and numbered 25th anniversary edition will be released on LP, CD and cassette. The LP edition is pressed on 180g vinyl and includes a lyric sheet and poster. The CD and cassette editions also include the track "Echo Bravo".
