Scorpions' 50th birthday: remastered song "Blackout" In 2015, Scorpions celebrate their 50th anniversary. On the occasion of the band's birthday, they are therefore coming up with something very special for their fans: the "50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition". In this edition, Scorpions are re-releasing a number of different studio and live albums. In addition, the band has pulled a number of previously unreleased tracks from their archives, including rare live recordings, alternate versions of their songs and rough mixes. Blackout", the Scorpions' eighth studio album, will be released on their birthday in a remastered special edition on CD and DVD and as an LP with accompanying CD. However, this album almost never came to fruition because singer Klaus Meine lost his voice during the recording process and it was long uncertain whether he would ever be able to sing again. After some time, however, he returned with a "new voice", which some critics even described as better than before. In addition to the nine tracks from the original album, the 2015 version of "Blackout" contains four bonus tracks, including a rare demo version of "Blackout" and three other never-released demos. The DVD captures the Scorpions' legendary performance at Dortmund's Westfalenhalle on December 17, 1983, as well as music videos for the songs "No One Like You" and "Arizona". As an encore, there is an interview with the band in which they talk in detail about the making of "Blackout". Like all "50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition" albums, "Blackout" is available as an LP with an accompanying CD and also includes a 16-page booklet with photos and illustrations of backstage passes and rare single artwork, as well as new liner notes by former Metal Hammer editor Edgar Klüsener. According to Klaus Meine, "Blackout" is one of the Scorpions' most important albums. For the anniversary, the album has been thoroughly mastered by a "new voice" in the best sound quality. In addition to "Blackout", the anniversary series also includes "World Wide Live", "Taken By Force", "Tokyo Tapes", "Lovedrive", "Animal Magnetism", "Love At First Sting" and "Savage Amusement". In addition, all albums will be released together in a limited edition "Vinyl Box".

Blackout is the seventh studio album by the German rock band Scorpions, released in 1982. The album was recorded at Dierks Studios in Cologne and mixed at the Record Plant in Los Angeles. Blackout is the band's first album to feature guitarist Matthias Jabs. The album was a commercial success, reaching number six on the Billboard 200 chart. It was certified platinum by the RIAA. The album spawned four singles, "No One Like You", "Dynamite", "Bad Boys Running Wild" and "Rock You Like a Hurricane". Blackout is considered one of the band's best albums. It was voted the second best album of 1983 by Kerrang! Awards. Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic called it "an album that sounds fresh and vital more than 30 years after its release" in a retrospective review.
