Repentless, released on 11 September 2015, is the eleventh studio album by Slayer . The album was produced by Terry Date and recorded at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California. It is the first album featuring drummer Paul Bostaph since 2001's God Hates Us All, and the first album featuring guitarist Gary Holt since 2011's World Painted Blood. The album's title track was released as a single on July 16, 2015. The track "Repentless" also appeared in the trailer for the video game Mortal Kombat X. The album received mostly positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 78, which is a "generally favorable rating" based on 9 reviews. Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album 4.5 stars out of 5, stating, "Repentless may not be Slayer's most groundbreaking album , but it's certainly one of their most consistent and entertaining, proving that the band is still at the top of their game after all these years." Kerrang! gave the album a 4 out of 5.

A lot has changed since their last album in 2009, at least in terms of line-up: 'Repentless' is the first Slayer album to feature Gary Holt of Exodus on guitar. He replaced Jeff Hanneman, who died in 2013. Also returning is drummer Paul Bostaph, who was last heard on 2001's "God Hates Us All". The rest of the crew, however, remains unchanged: Tom Araya sings and plays bass, Kerry King plays second guitar. The word "repentless" comes from the English "unrepentant" and means "incorrigible" - which is exactly what the album's title track is about. The song is a tribute to her friend Jeff Hanneman and portrays life from his perspective, Kerry King says.
