The Soundway EP "Heads Records" is the follow-up to the "Gumba Fire" compilation released in early 2018. It was about a musical genre that was very popular among the black population of South Africa in the 1980s: bubblegum. This genre also played a central role for the Heads label, which existed from 1982-84. The founder and owner of Heads was South African producer and singer Emil Zoghby. In the label's two years of existence, he released only a few productions through Heads, but they were heavy stuff, as the 12" with four "South African Disco-Dub Edits" provided by Soundway emphatically proves. The vinyl features three bubblegum tracks from William & The Young Five, Manyane and Adaye, which were given one and two deeply relaxed reworks respectively by New York's JKriv and Frankie Francis of DJ collective Sofrito. The party closes with "Picnic", an original from the Heads archive, recorded by the studio band Starlight.
