He just won another Oscar for his screenplay for Django Unchained, and there's hardly a director with a better talent for soundtracks than Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino has wasted no time inventing his own genre, with his bestselling "Nouvelle Violence" beginning with the 1992 cult classic "Reservoir Dogs." The film tells the story of a gang of crooks who steal diamonds and follows the characters during the heist itself. It stars great actors like Harvey Keitel (whose return was a direct result of this film), Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn (Sean Penn's brother) and Steve Buscemi in the legendary role of Mr. Pink. The sparkling dialogue in the film catapulted Reservoir Dogs to cult status, helped in no small part by the soundtrack. Music On Vinyl releases this "Super Sound Of The Seventies", a collection of groundbreaking and now and then downright bizarre songs from artists like Stealers Wheel, Harry Nilsson and Joe Tex. The film also made famous the Dutch band George Baker Selection, whose song "Little Green Bag" is heard among the opening credits.
