Various: The Many Faces Of The Who A lemezen lévő változat 3CD - standard kiadás. Ez a különleges kiadás - Brazília a kiadó által Music Brokers év 18. november 2016.
For many, The Who is the best British rock band of the 1960s. The original line-up (Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, Keith Moon and John Entwistle) created four unique and charismatic personalities. On "The Many Faces Of The Who" we discover the fascinating world of the band, their influences, their side projects and above all their songs, which are the manifestation of a great treasure. CD 1 "The Many Faces" features bassist John Entwistle as a solo artist (he began this career in 1971 when he discovered that only a few of his songs had made it into the band's repertoire). The "The Many Faces" series is dedicated to three of his songs in solo versions that he originally composed for The Who: "Heaven And Hell" (originally the B-side of the 1970 single "Summertime Blues"), "Whiskey Man" and "My Wife", where John displays his usual sarcasm and biting humor in the lyrics. In 1966, The Who's managers Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp founded the record label Track Records, which released not only the band's albums, but also the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Thunderclap Newman. Pete Townshend produced several albums for the label, including "The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown", from which the mysterious song "Come And Buy", also on this release, is taken. Pete's younger brother Simon Townshend is also a singer, songwriter and guitarist. He released his debut single in 1974 and has released seven studio albums in his career. He is also a member of the current line-up of The Who. The album "The Many Faces" features his song "Another Way", a rare collaboration with new wave singer Toyah Wilcox. In addition, this album features "Children Of The Sky", a collaborative project between Roger Daltrey and British director Mike Batt. In addition to the amazing songwriting talents of John Entwistle and especially Pete Townshend, The Who were known for presenting cover versions and new versions of songs in concert and on their albums. All of this shaped the band into their distinctive style, which inspired them to create new ones. "The Many Faces" contains several original songs that may be unfamiliar to many fans, such as "Young Man's Blues" by singer and jazz pianist Mose Allison, which The Who recorded for their fantastic album "Live at Leeds". On the same album they played "Shakin' All Over" by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, "Summertime Blues" by Eddie Cochran and "Fortune Teller" by Benny Spellman. Also on "The Many Faces" are the songs "I Do Not Mind" and "Please Please Please" (both originally by James Brown) and "I'm A Man" by Bo Diddley, which appeared on their debut album. CD1 closes with Sonny Boy Williamson's bluesy song "The Hawker", the lyrics of which the band used for their own song "Eyesight For The Blind", featured on the legendary double album "Tommy". CD2 contains a rarity that should especially please fans: the album's "The Who Sell Out" is played in its entirety and with original sequences by Petra Haden of New York, daughter of famed jazz bassist Charlie Haden. Thanks to Petra Haden's original recording method and arrangements, these versions are very special and represent an extraordinary artistic achievement. Finally, CD 3 of The Many Faces series contains many of The Who's most important songs in excellent versions by bands who consider themselves fans of The Who, such as Ocean Colour Scene and Cast, and tribute bands such as The Young Mods and The Quick Ones. There are also versions from underground bands such as Hyperhead and The Brilliant Corners , and artists you'd never think would be doing versions of The Who such as The Glitter Band, Poison Idea and singer Yvonne Elliman. So embark on an amazing journey of discovery with "The Many Faces Of The Who" - best enjoyed properly loud in your headphones and immersed in the previously unknown world of The Who.
