The TOWER cable (named after the London landmark) is, like all Audioquest cables, made with the utmost attention to the manufacturer's motto: "Do no harm!", which can be loosely translated as "do no harm;" meaning to try to affect the passing signal as little as possible. An audio system is only as strong as its weakest link, and that weakest link is often the cables. Unfortunately, the signal is always being altered (by passing through wires, splices, connectors, devices); the goal of Audioquest cables is to keep these changes to a minimum.
TECHNOLOGY
Long Grain Copper (LGC) solid conductors: solid conductors eliminate fiber-to-fiber interactions, which are a common source of interference. These conductors eliminate the distortion created by interacting fibers. The copper used delivers a brighter and softer sound than conventional OFHC copper cables because it contains myfewer transitions within the material, fewer impurities and clearly gives better performance.
Foamed polyethylene insulation: any solid material near the conductor actually becomes part of the imperfect circuit. Cable and circuit board insulation absorb energy and cause losses. Some of this energy is stored and then released in the form of distortion.Evergreen uses air-filled polyethylene foam insulation to insulate the wires because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene is low-loss and distortion-friendly. The result is a noticeably less distorted sound than with conventional materials.
Metallic layer for shielding and dispersion of external influences:or NDS system, perfectly shields the interference transmitted to the ground of the instruments and thus prevents changes in the sound spectrum.
Double-balanced asymmetrical geometry: specifically designed for single ended applications, the double-balanced asymmetrical geometry provides relatively lower impedance for richer, more dynamic listening. While many single ended cables use a single path for both grounding and shielding, the double-balanced design separates the two paths for much better performance.
Cold-welded, gold-plated connectors: this solution eliminates solder from the connection equation, which is often a source of distortion. Because the connector bodies are molded, not machined, a metal with little tendency to distort the signal can be selected for fabrication instead of the more commonly used, easily machined material.
