Swedish Choral Music Composer and Educator

Swedish music educator, choir director and composer, born March 7, 1924 in Järvsö parish, Gävleborg county, died July 14, 2019. He obtained a higher music teacher's degree at the Royal Academy of Music in 1946. He became a music teacher at the Uppsala city music school in 1947, at the Nacka music school in 1948, director of studies in 1959 and acting director there in 1966. He was union secretary of the Riksförbundet Sveriges musikpedagoger (RSM) in 1959, a member of the cooperation committee for the Swedish music teacher unions from 1962 and by the Confederation Council of the Swedish Association of Specialist Teachers from 1966. Agnestig has written textbooks for instrumental teaching in the music school. He has also composed many songs and choral songs, and is represented in The Swedish Psalm Book in 1986 with the setting of two works (no. 214 b and 443).
