Jamiroquai is a British funk and acid jazz band formed in 1992 by frontman Jay Kay, the band's lead vocalist. They gained international acclaim with their brand of pop-infused funk and jazz elements, characterized by catchy hooks, vibrant brass sections, and deep grooves. Their debut album "Emergency On Planet Earth" (1993) quickly established them as a significant force in the music scene with its environmentally conscious lyrics and smooth, funky soundscapes. The band's third album, "Travelling Without Moving" (1996), propelled them to even greater heights, largely due to the success of the single "Virtual Insanity," which won several awards and is known for its innovative music video. Jamiroquai continued to enjoy success throughout the 90s and into the new millennium. "High Times: Singles 1992–2006" is a compilation album that encapsulates the band's hits over this period, showcasing their evolution and the enduring appeal of their funky, soulful music. Throughout their career, Jamiroquai has sold more than 26 million albums worldwide and won a Grammy Award in 1998 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The band remains active, continuing to record and perform globally.
