LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 2002 by frontman James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. The band's music is a blend of dance-punk and electronica with elements of disco, post-punk, and indie rock. They gained immediate attention with their first single "Losing My Edge" and released their self-titled debut album "LCD Soundsystem" in 2005 to critical acclaim. The group's second album, "Sound of Silver," was released in 2007 and included the hit "Someone Great." Their third studio album, "This Is Happening," was released in 2010 and featured the popular track "Dance Yrself Clean." LCD Soundsystem announced a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden in 2011, which was documented in the release "The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden." However, the band reunited in 2015 and released their fourth album, "American Dream," in 2017, which won a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
