Classic Rock and Funk Band

Rare Earth is an American rock band affiliated with Motown's Rare Earth record label (named after the band), which prospered in the late 1960s and 1970s. They were known for their unique distinction as a white band signed to Motown, and they achieved notable success with a number of their recordings. The group came into prominence with their cover of The Temptations' hit "Get Ready," which became a chart-topping success and gave the band their name for their first album under the Motown label in 1969. Rare Earth had a number of Top 40 hits in the 1970-71 period, including "I Just Want to Celebrate," "Hey Big Brother," and "(I Know) I'm Losing You." Their style was a distinctive mix of rock, R&B, and funk, which resonated well with audiences at the time. Throughout their career, they underwent several lineup changes but managed to maintain a presence on the music scene, touring and performing for dedicated fans around the world.
