Sentenced was a Finnish metal band that formed in 1989 in the town of Muhos. The band started out with a melodic death metal sound on their early albums, but evolved to incorporate a more gothic and rock-influenced style as their career progressed. Their second album, "North From Here," released in 1993, is often regarded as a classic in the melodic death metal genre and showcased the band's technical proficiency and dark lyrical themes. Sentenced gained a following in the metal community for their melancholic melodies and themes of sorrow and loss. Over the years, they released several albums and underwent various lineup changes. The band announced their decision to disband in 2005, with their final album "The Funeral Album" serving as a farewell to fans. Sentenced left a lasting legacy in the metal scene with their distinctive blend of heavy riffs and somber atmospheres.
