Irish Contemporary Folk Music Ensemble

The Gloaming is an Irish contemporary folk music group that has garnered international acclaim for their innovative approach to traditional Irish music. Formed in 2011, the ensemble consists of fiddle player Martin Hayes, guitarist Dennis Cahill, vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird, fiddle player Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, and American pianist Thomas Bartlett (also known as Doveman). Their self-titled debut album, "The Gloaming," was released in 2014 to critical acclaim, showcasing a blend of Irish folk tunes with modern classical and jazz influences. The group's chemistry and unique sound stem from the members' diverse musical backgrounds and virtuosic skill. Following the success of their first album, they released "2" in 2016 and "The Gloaming 3" in 2019, both of which continued to build on their reputation for pushing the boundaries of traditional Irish music while maintaining a deep respect for its roots. The Gloaming has become known for their captivating live performances, often featuring extended improvisations that highlight the band's dynamic interplay and emotional depth.
