Production was handled by Ron Aniello and mixing by Tom Elmhirst. The Boss received musical support from some 20 musicians who contributed bass and keyboards, strings, brass and pedal steel guitar, celesta, Moog, Farfisa and backing vocals. The first precursor came in April with the single "Hello Sunshine". In addition to the standard CD, "Western Stars" is also available as a double LP on black vinyl.
