Cosmo's Factory was the fourth and most important of the five albums that Creedence Clearwater Revival released in 1969 and 1970 in the Top 10. Included here were the songs "Travelin' Band", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Who'll Stop the Rain", "Run Through the Jungle" and cover versions of Marvin Gaye (CCR's version of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"), Bo Diddley, Roy Orbison and Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup. Bonus material includes a reworking of "Travelin' Band" without the horns, a live version of "Up Around the Bend" from the 1971 European tour, and a previously unreleased version of "Born on the Bayou" from the CCR/Booker T & the MGs reunion at Cosmo's Factory Studio in 1970. The album was recorded at Wally Heider's studios in San Francisco and at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California. The album was produced by John Fogerty, Creedence Clearwater Revival , and Saul Zaentz. Cosmo's Factory was the band's first album to feature bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford, who replaced Tom Fogerty and brother John Fogerty, respectively. The album was a commercial and critical success, reaching number two on the Billboard 200 chart and being awarded triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album's lead single, "Up Around the Bend", reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single from the album, "Run Through the Jungle", reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
