Halcyon is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding , released on 5 October 2012 by Polydor Records. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and was co-produced by Goulding and Jim Eliot. It was preceded by the release of the lead single "Burn" on 26 August 2012. The album debuted at number two in the UK album chart and sold over 66,000 copies in its first week. It was later certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for delivering 300,000 copies. The album Halcyon spawned three further singles - "Anything Could Happen", "I Need Your Love" and "How Long Will I Love You" - which reached the top 20 in the UK. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which gives mainstream critics' reviews a standardised score out of 100, the album received an average score of 73, indicating a "generally favourable rating".
