Slowly We Rot is the debut album by the death metal band Obituary . The album was released on 2 May 1989 and was produced by Scott Burns at Morrisound Recording. The album was recorded in late 1988. The album was re-released in 1992 with two bonus tracks. In 2006, the album was re-released with a bonus DVD. The album was very well received by fans and critics. Terrorizer magazine ranked it among the best death metal albums of all time. The album was also listed as one of the best albums of 1989 by Metal Forces magazine. The album has been cited as an influence by many death metal bands.
