Known darkness, unknown hardness Paradise Lost have changed their musical style several times during their almost thirty-year career, from death metal to doom to gothic metal and dark rock. In 2017, they're kind of going back to their beginnings. They haven't sounded as hard as they do on their new album "Medusa" in a long time. Nick Holmes (vocals), Greg Mackintosh, Aaron Aedy (guitar) and Steve Edmondson (bass) recorded eight songs for it at Orgone Studios in Woburn, England. The drums were played by 23-year-old Finnish newcomer Waltteri Väyrynen. Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Cathedral) was in charge of production for their fifteenth studio album. Two singles, "The Longest Winter" and "Blood And Chaos", Paradise Lost have already provided two samples of "Medusa". And they're making it clear: Paradise Lost will provide an official surprise in 2017 that should please new, but especially old fans: "Medusa" is a familiarly dark but strikingly hard-hitting return to their beginnings. In addition to the standard CD and LP versions, "Medusa" is also available in a limited edition CD and double LP including a CD with two bonus tracks.
