Goatsnake is an American doom metal band that formed in 1996 in Los Angeles, California. The band is known for its heavy, blues-influenced sound that incorporates elements of stoner rock and doom metal. Goatsnake's lineup has included members from other influential bands in the doom and stoner rock scenes, such as Greg Anderson of Sunn O))) and Pete Stahl of Scream and Wool. They released their debut album "Goatsnake I" in 1999, which was followed by the EP "Dog Days". Later, they combined the two releases into a single compilation titled "I + Dog Days". After a period of inactivity, Goatsnake reunited and released their third full-length album "Black Age Blues" in 2015. The band has been praised for their soulful approach to metal and their ability to blend crushing riffs with melodic sensibilities. Throughout their career, Goatsnake has maintained a cult following and is respected within the heavy music community for their contributions to the genre.
