Gong Global Family

Gong Global Family is a project that brought together members of Daevid Allen's University Of Errors and Invisible Opera Company Of Tibet (Tropical Version Brazil) for a short tour in Brazil in 2007. It started as an opportunity for University of Errors to play a few dates in Brazil, but their drummer Warren Huegel being unavailable, they enlisted IOCT (Brazil) drummer Fred Barley. To make the event more attractive to the Brazilian public, another line-up involving more IOCT members was assembled to play a second set of Gong’s repertoire – the classic or reformed Gong having never played Brazil in its entire existence. Although the project was short lived and created only for this 2007 opportunity, they played Brazil again in May 2012 for a unique concert. Gong Global Family can also be used more generally to refer to a community of musicians or groups related to Gong and Daevid Allen as in The Gong Global Family - How To Nuke The Eiffel Tower.
