Gov't Mule is an American rock band formed in 1994 as a side project of The Allman Brothers Band by guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody. Known for their Southern rock style, which also incorporates elements of blues, funk, and hard rock, Gov't Mule has become a staple act in the jam band scene. Following the tragic death of Allen Woody in 2000, the band underwent lineup changes but continued to forge ahead with Haynes at the helm. Over the years, Gov't Mule has released numerous studio and live albums, showcasing their improvisational skills and musical versatility. Their album "By A Thread," released in 2009, was well-received and marked their first studio album with new bassist Jorgen Carlsson. "Dark Side Of The Mule," released in 2014, is a live album featuring Pink Floyd covers, highlighting the band's ability to reinterpret classic material with a unique twist. In 2021, they released "Heavy Load Blues," which saw the band delve deeply into their blues roots. Gov't Mule continues to tour extensively, captivating audiences with their dynamic performances and expansive catalog of music.
