Power of Zeus was a rock band from Detroit, Michigan, that emerged in the late 1960s. They are known for their 1970 album "The Gospel According to Zeus," which was released on the Rare Earth label, a subsidiary of Motown Records designed to capitalize on the rising popularity of rock music at the time. The band's sound was characterized by heavy guitar riffs and a hard rock style that was typical of the era. Despite the potential for success given their association with Motown's Rare Earth label, Power of Zeus did not achieve significant commercial success and remained relatively obscure. Their album has since gained a cult following and is appreciated by collectors and aficionados of early hard rock and proto-metal sounds. The band's career was short-lived, and they disbanded not long after the release of their only album.
