Towa Tei is a Japanese artist, DJ, and record producer who first gained international fame as a member of the American electronic music group Deee-Lite, known for their hit single "Groove Is in the Heart." Born in Tokyo, Japan, on September 7, 1964, Tei moved to New York City to study graphic design before embarking on his music career. After his success with Deee-Lite in the early 1990s, he launched a solo career and released his debut album "Future Listening!" in 1994. The album showcased his eclectic style that blends various genres including electronic, bossa nova, and jazz.
