The road leads to "Dark Sky Island" "Dark Sky Island" is about the road. Although it is not a concept album in the traditional sense, the theme of travel runs through all the songs like a red thread. According to the singer, she travels across history, oceans, emotions and also to the island that inspired the title track and ultimately her new studio album. "Sark" is the name of the fourth largest island in the English Channel, which was once declared a light-protected area or "dark sky island" - an area in which the darkness of night cannot be illuminated by artificial light, or only to a small degree. Enya found inspiration for this project from her longtime friend Romy Ryan. The songwriter, who writes almost all of the lyrics for the singer as part of Enya's creative trio, has written a number of poetry collections that revolve around different islands. That's how the idea for "Dark Sky Island" came about in 2012. Three years later, the writing, composing and recording process with producer Nicky Ryan was completed, resulting in eleven brand new Enya songs. On October 9, 2015, the first single from the album, "Echoes In Rain" was released - a euphoric anthem in Enya's unmistakable guise that also focuses on the theme of travel. The second single "So I Could Find My Way" followed on October 30. The latter, again - also typical of Enya - is more of a classic Irish lament. Both songs suggest that she has once again managed to create an incredibly versatile album with "Dark Sky Island". This is supported not only by a complex sound spectrum, but also by songs in the fanciful "loxian" language that Enya already made famous on her album "Amarantine" (2005). In addition to the standard CD, "Dark Sky Island" will also be released in a deluxe edition. In addition to the eleven tracks from the album, the CD contains three bonus tracks. In addition, this is the first time since the re-release of Enya's 1992 debut that it has been released on vinyl. Countless musicians have spoken about their journeys and goals in their songs.
